About me
Erico de Melo is a law-trained professional with extensive experience spanning international relations, government engagement, consumer protection and public policy. Driven by the belief that lasting change happens when people work with and for one another, he has built his career around strengthening institutions, advancing consumer rights and bringing diverse stakeholders together to create practical solutions.
Erico began his career in the public sector and grassroots consumer agencies, working directly with consumers and communities to ensure that rights were protected not only on paper, but in practice. This early experience continues to shape his approach to policy, collaboration and advocacy.
Over the course of his career, Erico has taken on leadership and institution-building roles, co-founding and leading consumer organisations and working with dedicated teams to turn ideas into meaningful impact. He has represented hundreds of consumer protection authorities in policy advocacy and regulatory reform, combining collaboration, resilience, innovation and execution to advance complex initiatives from the ground up.
Today, Erico works at the global level, representing consumer perspectives at the United Nations, OECD and other international forums. His work focuses on connecting consumer organisations, governments, international institutions and businesses to address shared challenges and develop practical, collective solutions—particularly for consumers whose voices and influence are often limited.
Outside of his professional work, Erico is passionate about sports and travel and serves as a CrossFit and HYROX trainer. These interests reflect his curiosity, energy and commitment to staying grounded and continually challenging himself.
