Pinuccia Contino is the Deputy-Director for Equality and Non-Discrimination and Head of the Gender Equality Unit at the European Commission (DG JUST), where she leads the development and implementation of EU legislation, strategies, and programmes advancing gender equality, together with a team of outstanding experts. She previously served as Deputy-Director for Consumers and Head of the Product Safety and Rapid Alert System Unit, contributing to stronger consumer protection frameworks across Europe and globally. In this context, she received the Ross Koeser Achievement Award by ICPHSO (International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization) in 2024. Pinuccia is also an Ambassador of Compassion certified by Stanford University and completed a Certification Training in Compassionate Leadership with the Center for Compassionate Leadership in December 2023. Pinuccia is also the author of What It Takes to Be Yourself: From Seeking Success to Embodying Purpose through Compassion. Published in January 2026, her book is both a memoir and a reflective guide, born from a three-and-a-half-year journey exploring leadership, authenticity, compassion, the meaning of success, and how compassionate leadership can transform the way we live and work.
