Valentina Rivas is an experienced professional specializing in international cooperation on trade and development, with a focus on consumer protection, competition policy, and digital markets at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Her work supports governments, particularly in developing countries, as they navigate emerging challenges in the digital economy, including artificial intelligence, e-commerce, and sustainable consumption. In addition to project management and analytical work, Valentina contributes to consensus building among UNCTAD member States through the Intergovernmental Groups of Experts on Competition Law and Policy and on Consumer Protection Law and Policy. In this capacity, she facilitates dialogue, supports negotiations, and develops substantive inputs that contribute to global policy discussions.
Valentina also coordinates collaborative platforms, including the UNCTAD Informal Working Group on Consumer Protection and E-Commerce, and engages with policymakers, regulators, experts, and international partners to advance shared priorities.
